Chicken Fried Steak with Creamy Gravy and Mashed Potatoes
Ingredients:
For the Chicken Fried Steak:
- 4 cube steaks (tenderized beef)
- 1 ½ cups (190g) all-purpose flour
- 2 large eggs
- 1 cup (240ml) buttermilk (or regular milk)
- 1 tsp paprika
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp onion powder
- Salt and black pepper to taste
- Oil for frying
For the Gravy:
- 2 tbsp butter
- 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
- 1 ½ cups (360ml) milk
- Salt and black pepper to taste
For the Mashed Potatoes:
- 4-5 large potatoes, peeled and diced
- ½ cup (120ml) milk
- 4 tbsp butter
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions:
Mashed Potatoes
- Cook the Potatoes:
- Boil the diced potatoes in salted water for about 15 minutes or until fork-tender.
- Mash:
- Drain the water, then mash the potatoes. Add butter, milk, salt, and pepper. Mix until smooth. Set aside.
