Southern-Style Chicken Pot Pie Recipe

Instructions:

  1. Preheat Oven:
Set your oven to 400°F (200°C).

  2. Cook the Vegetables:
In a pot, boil the carrots, potatoes, peas, and celery for about 10 minutes, then drain and set aside.

  3. Make the Creamy Filling:
In a saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat.
Add flour, salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and thyme.
Stir for about 1 minute until smooth.
Gradually whisk in chicken broth and milk until it thickens (about 3–5 minutes).

  4. Combine Everything:
Add the cooked chicken and vegetables to the sauce and stir well.

  5. Assemble the Pie:
Place one pie crust in your baking dish.
    Pour in the chicken mixture.
Cover with the second crust and seal the edges.
Cut small slits on top for steam to escape.
Brush with beaten egg for a golden finish.

  6. Bake:
Bake for 30–35 minutes or until the crust is golden brown.

  7. Cool & Serve:
Let it rest for 10 minutes before serving.
