Step 4: Clean the Door Seal
Gently pull back the rubber door seal to expose hidden areas.
Soak a microfiber cloth in the vinegar solution (about 3–4 tablespoons/45–60 mL) and wipe the seal thoroughly, targeting mold, debris, or mildew.
Use the toothbrush dipped in the solution to scrub tight crevices. Rinse the cloth and wipe again to remove loosened dirt.
Step 5: Run the Vinegar Cleaning Cycle
Pour 2 cups (473 mL) of white vinegar directly into the detergent drawer using a measuring cup.
Set the machine to a hot water cycle (at least 140°F/60°C, or the hottest setting available) with no laundry inside.
Run the full cycle (typically 1–1.5 hours) to flush out mold, mildew, and soap scum from the drum and internal pipes.
Step 6: Add Baking Soda for a Deep Clean
Once the vinegar cycle finishes, sprinkle ½ cup (120 g) of baking soda evenly across the drum’s interior.
Run another hot water cycle (same settings as Step 5) to neutralize odors and brighten the drum.
This cycle will take another 1–1.5 hours.
Step 7: Final Wipe Down and Drying
After the baking soda cycle, use a dry microfiber cloth to wipe the drum’s interior, removing any remaining residue or moisture.
Leave the door open for 2–4 hours to air-dry completely, preventing mold growth.
Maintenance Tips
Repeat this cleaning process once a month (e.g., the first Saturday of each month) to maintain peak performance.
After every laundry load, leave the door ajar and wipe the seal with a dry cloth to minimize moisture buildup.
Check your machine’s manual for model-specific care instructions.
