Instructions:
Preheat & Prepare:
Preheat your oven to 325°F (163°C).
Grease and flour a bundt pan thoroughly.
Make the Cake Batter:
In a large bowl, cream the butter and sugar together until light and fluffy.
Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.
Mix in the vanilla extract.
In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
Alternately add the dry ingredients and buttermilk to the butter mixture, beginning and ending with the dry ingredients.
Mix until just combined—don’t overmix!
Bake:
Pour the batter into the prepared bundt pan and smooth the top.
Bake for 60-70 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
Prepare the Butter Glaze:
In a small saucepan over low heat, melt the butter.
Stir in sugar, water, and vanilla extract.
Cook just until the sugar dissolves—don’t boil.
Soak the Cake:
Once the cake is out of the oven, poke small holes all over the cake using a skewer or toothpick.
Slowly pour the warm glaze over the hot cake while it’s still in the pan.
Let the cake soak up the glaze for at least 15 minutes before inverting onto a serving plate.
Serve:
Let the cake cool completely before slicing.
Dust with powdered sugar or serve with whipped cream and berries if desired.
Tips for the Best Butter Cake:
✅ Use room temperature ingredients – This ensures a smooth batter.
✅ Don’t overmix – Overmixing can make the cake dense instead of tender.
✅ Let the cake absorb the glaze – This keeps it super moist and flavorful.
✅ Store properly – Wrap in plastic wrap or keep in an airtight container; it stays moist for several days!
