Instructions
1. Prepare the Secret Sauce:
In a small bowl, mix all the sauce ingredients.
Cover and refrigerate while preparing the rest.
2. Caramelize the Onions:
In a skillet, melt 2 tablespoons butter over medium-low heat.
Add sliced onions and cook for 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally, until golden brown. Set aside.
3. Cook the Patties:
In a bowl, mix ground beef with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and Worcestershire sauce.
Divide into 4 oval-shaped patties (slightly larger than your bread).
Heat 1 tablespoon butter in a skillet over medium-high heat. Cook patties for 3-4 minutes per side, until browned and cooked through.
4. Assemble the Patty Melts:
Spread secret sauce on one side of each bread slice.
On 4 slices, layer cheddar cheese, a beef patty, caramelized onions, and Swiss cheese.
Top with remaining bread slices (sauce side inside).
5. Grill the Sandwiches:
Heat a large skillet over medium heat. Melt 1 tablespoon butter.
Cook each sandwich for 3-4 minutes per side, pressing slightly, until golden brown and cheese is melted.
6. Serve & Enjoy!
Slice in half and serve hot with extra secret sauce for dipping.
