Chicken Fried Steak with Creamy Gravy and Mashed Potatoes

  1. Prepare the Coating:
    • In one bowl, whisk the eggs and buttermilk together.
    • In another bowl, mix flour, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper.
  2. Coat the Steaks:
    • Dip each cube steak into the flour mixture, then into the egg mixture, and back into the flour mixture, ensuring it’s well coated.
  3. Fry:
    • Heat oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Fry each steak for 3-4 minutes on each side, until golden brown and crispy. Remove and place on a paper towel-lined plate.

Creamy Gravy

  1. Make a Roux:
    • In the same skillet, melt butter over medium heat. Whisk in the flour and cook for 1 minute.
  2. Add Milk:
    • Gradually whisk in milk, stirring constantly to avoid lumps. Simmer until the gravy thickens. Season with salt and pepper to taste.

To Serve:

  • Place a piece of chicken fried steak on a plate, pour the creamy gravy on top, and serve with a generous scoop of mashed potatoes.
