Chicken Fried Steak with Creamy Gravy and Mashed Potatoes

Ingredients:

For the Chicken Fried Steak:

  • 4 cube steaks (tenderized beef)
  • 1 ½ cups (190g) all-purpose flour
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup (240ml) buttermilk (or regular milk)
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • Oil for frying

For the Gravy:

  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 1 ½ cups (360ml) milk
  • Salt and black pepper to taste

For the Mashed Potatoes:

  • 4-5 large potatoes, peeled and diced
  • ½ cup (120ml) milk
  • 4 tbsp butter
  • Salt and pepper to taste

 

Instructions:

Mashed Potatoes

  1. Cook the Potatoes:
    • Boil the diced potatoes in salted water for about 15 minutes or until fork-tender.
  2. Mash:
    • Drain the water, then mash the potatoes. Add butter, milk, salt, and pepper. Mix until smooth. Set aside.
